So, this anime had those kind of scenes 100 times haha. Scenes like the end of Akira with all the clouds, rainbow colors and nukes lol. One cool thing is you see there's often a cool trippy highly visual scene or two, especially at the start or end, of 80s anime movies. A real old anime that somehow didn't get spread around much during the huge boom of the 90s. Maybe like Akira it was meant to be seen in theatres to fully appreciate it though. Lots of amazing motion animation like with the clouds. maybe there's something even veterans can learn from the 'noob fans who only seen the big I think that's Angel's Egg, if so, it's extremely cool visually like the backgrounds show here. A proper approach and mindset helps a lot with enjoyment, a lot of fans miss that, I believe that's also why criticism of a very good popular anime comes with such unexpected frustration most times leading to anger notice it's frustration that wouldnt normally come from a new fan with a fresh mindset. It'd be like harshly criticizing an action anime because its not funny as a comedy anime. Critiquing and analyzing it the way you would other anime is the wrong approach since it was different. I think I was meh on it at first but in recent years I feel all critics involved were overreacting - it's meant to be a visual trip, you enjoy it for that (which it does well imo) and take your own meaning while hearing out other's interpretations (which is fine). iirc it was because there is no dialogue. There's always been a lot of confusion/disagreement about the plot/meaning. Seems they felt it was overrated because of the animation and 'carried' which is a common complaint about modern anime, but so weird to hear it about one from the 1980s lol.
